Free parking is easier to find away from the busiest central streets. It can be a useful way to lower the cost of a ski or mountain holiday, but check whether the hotel space is included in your room rate and available for your whole stay.
Where to look for free parking
The outlying villages are the best place to look for genuinely free hotel parking. El Tarter and Ransol are useful for Grandvalira; Arinsal suits Pal-Arinsal visitors; Hotel Pic Maià is about 4 km outside Pas de la Casa and close to the slopes.
Many public spaces in these villages are subject to local rules, barriers or seasonal demand. A hotel listing that says “parking available” does not always mean the space is free or guaranteed.
- Ask if the parking is private, outdoors or in a garage.
- Check whether a reservation is required and whether there is a height restriction.
- Confirm any winter access instructions and whether snow chains may be needed.
| Area | Accommodation examples | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| El Tarter | Hotel del Tarter (3-star) and Hotel Ransol | Del Tarter has a large free lot; Ransol's free lot is limited and can fill |
| Ransol | Hotel Ransol | Free parking beside the hotel; overflow may use the resort car park |
| Arinsal | Yomo Patagonia | Large free car park outside; practical base for Pal-Arinsal |
| Pas de la Casa | Hotel Pic Maià | Free outdoor parking; covered parking about €18/night; roughly 4 km from village |
"The breakfast was varied, complete and high quality. The bed was very comfortable, and free parking was right outside the hotel."
"The hotel was very good: a spacious, very clean room, a good breakfast and free parking next door."
El Tarter: free parking by Grandvalira
Hotel del Tarter is a three-star hotel by the Grandvalira slopes with a large free guest car park and ski lockers; some rates include buffet breakfast. Hotel Ransol is a quieter, lower-cost alternative with limited free parking beside the property. If its spaces are full, the resort parking is nearby.
The local car parks at the foot of the slopes are useful for day visits, but they are not a substitute for reserved overnight parking at your accommodation.
- Best resort access: Hotel del Tarter, with a large free car park by the hotel.
- Quieter budget option: Hotel Ransol; free parking is limited.
- Confirm that parking is included rather than merely available.
| Hotel | Rating / category | Parking |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel del Tarter | Three-star | Large free lot by hotel; some rates include buffet breakfast |
| Hotel Ransol | Check current score | Free but limited spaces beside hotel; resort car park is overflow option |
Arinsal and Pas de la Casa
Yomo Patagonia in Arinsal has a large free car park in front of the hotel. Guests describe spacious, clean rooms and friendly staff. Hotel Pic Maià is about 4 km outside Pas de la Casa, close to the slopes, and has free outdoor parking in front; an indoor covered space is also available for about €18/night.
For Pic Maià, check the winter road conditions and confirm whether you want the free outdoor space or the paid covered garage.
"The room was spectacular, large and very clean. The staff were extremely friendly. I have stayed at several hotels between La Massana and Arinsal and this was my favourite."
"A comfortable, well-equipped room, free parking in front of the hotel and good Wi-Fi."
Budget options near the centre
The recommended Escaldes apartment is rated 9.2/10 and includes a private parking space in the room price; its kitchen is useful for self-catering. Hotel Encamp is a three-star intermediate base, 300 metres from Funicamp and 10–15 minutes by car from Andorra la Vella; the source lists private parking at €15/night and a score of 8.2/10. At weekends, Encamp's blue zone is free (the green zone remains paid), including spaces near Radio Andorra at the entrance to town.
Barri Antic Hostel & Pub is a budget choice in Andorra la Vella's old town, rated 8.9/10, with its own pub and a shared kitchen. Pair it with Parking Madriu, about a 30-minute walk away and charged at 2,50€/day, or use local transport. Compare the full cost: room, parking, transport and time to the centre or ski lifts.
| Stay / score | Parking | Location and practical details |
|---|---|---|
| Escaldes apartment · 9.2/10 | Private space included | Complete apartment with equipped kitchen, next to Andorra la Vella |
| Hotel Encamp · 8.2/10 · 3-star | Private, about €15/night | 300 m from Funicamp; 10–15 minutes by car to Andorra la Vella |
| Barri Antic Hostel & Pub · 8.9/10 | Use Parking Madriu (2,50€/day) | Old town of Andorra la Vella; pub and shared kitchen |
"The apartment was very good and included parking, which is a real bonus in Andorra."
"Very good value for money. Some areas had been renovated and the beds were very comfortable."
"A central location with a bar downstairs that did not disturb us at night. The staff were friendly and helpful; I will return."
Alternatives when your hotel has no parking
For a shopping stop, Pyrénées, E.Leclerc and Andorra2000 offer two hours free when you make a qualifying purchase: the source guide lists a €24 minimum at Pyrénées and €30 at E.Leclerc. Spending over €99 at E.Leclerc may also qualify for a free Envalira Tunnel ticket; check current terms at the store.
Sunday parking differs between the two central parishes: blue-zone spaces in Escaldes-Engordany are free on Sundays, while Andorra la Vella charges every day, including Sundays.
Parking Madriu is about a 30-minute walk from the centre and costs 2,50€ per day, making it a lower-cost option if you are staying several days and do not mind the walk.
- Shopping-centre car parks: two free hours with qualifying purchases; confirm validation and opening hours.
- Parking Madriu: 2,50€ per day and about 30 minutes' walk from the centre.
- Public garages: more convenient when you need frequent access to the car.
Staying in the centre instead
A central hotel without parking can still work if you compare the nightly garage cost with the convenience of exploring on foot. Escaldes has free blue-zone parking on Sundays; Andorra la Vella's blue zone is paid every day. For a lower-cost multi-day stay, consider Parking Madriu (2,50€/day, about 30 minutes' walk) or reserve a central public garage.
