About Me

Manuel Cabarcos at Coma Pedrosa peak, Andorra

At Coma Pedrosa peak, Andorra's highest mountain (2,942m)

Welcome to Activities in Andorra. I'm Manuel Cabarcos, born and raised in Encamp, one of the seven parishes of Andorra. I lived here until I was 18, when I left to study in France. Now I come back at least once a month, and each visit is a chance to rediscover my homeland with fresh eyes.

My mission is simple: to show you that Andorra is much more than skiing and shopping. There are little-known mountain trails, surprising cultural plans, and alternative activities that most travel guides don't mention.

My Connection to Andorra

I grew up surrounded by mountains. As a kid, my weekends were hikes with my family and our dogs along the trails of Encamp. What I've always loved most about Andorra is having the mountain right at your doorstep: you can be in the city center and 20 minutes later be walking among pine trees and lakes.

Now that I live abroad, every time I come back I still go with my mom and our dogs, exploring new paths and hidden viewpoints.

Beyond the classic activities like skiing at Grandvalira or shopping on Avinguda Meritxell, I want to show you alternative options: from an evening at Bingo Andorra Stars to hiking trails in lesser-known areas like the Tibetan Bridge of Encamp.

Why I Created This Blog

Andorra has a reputation for being only a ski destination in winter and duty-free shopping all year round. And yes, that's part of its charm. But there's so much more.

I wanted to create a space where I could share plans for every budget. From free activities like visiting the most beautiful villages in Andorra or going on mountain hikes, to paid experiences (~€30) like Caldea spa or the Tobotronc at Naturland.

I also want to highlight the cultural heritage that many people don't know about. Andorra has Romanesque churches from the 12th century, the Sanctuary of Meritxell, and the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

My Mission for This Blog

  • Show Andorra beyond skiing and shopping: There's culture, nature, gastronomy and alternative activities that deserve attention.
  • Offer options for every budget: From free plans to premium experiences, so anyone can enjoy Andorra.
  • Share first-hand practical tips: Real information based on my experience as a local, not on theory.
  • Highlight lesser-known places: Like the Tibetan Bridge of Encamp or hiking trails off the usual tourist circuit.
