When I was a kid, I remember my parents parking for free in the center. But now there are blue zones (zona blava) and green zones (zona verda) everywhere, so the question is how to pay as little as possible. It's true that in outlying villages you can still park for free, but in the center it's not possible. I created this guide to give you the best options.
One thing to get straight: when I say the center in this guide, I mean Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany, which sit side by side and form the shopping district. And watch out in Andorra la Vella: the blue zone is paid every day, Sundays included. My dad found that out with a fine next to the Pyrénées supermarket one Sunday morning.

Parking in the Center (Andorra la Vella & Escaldes-Engordany)
To get organized fast and stop driving around in circles, here are the best options sorted by what you're coming to do.
Cheap Parking in the Center
If you want to spend as little as possible on parking without going too far, you've got two key options:
1. Parking Madriu: the cheapest parking in Andorra
If you're staying all day or several nights, Parking Madriu costs only 2,50€ a day (with the first half hour free). It's in Escaldes (Carretera de Engolasters), about a 25-minute walk from the shopping center. It's uphill, but I'd seriously consider this option if you're staying in the center.
It's the best option if you want to leave your car somewhere safe and forget about paying €20–€25 a night in the central lots. You'll find every detail and how to get there in my Parking Madriu guide.
2. Peripheral blue zone (Seu de la Justicia / la Comella area)
Even in high season (and especially outside it), if you move away from the main shopping strip you can usually find street parking.
A friend who works in the area told me there's usually space next to the Seu de la Justícia (View on Google Maps), more precisely around the spot marked on the map below.
If there's nothing right there, head a bit further up and you'll usually find something.
Remember the blue zone's free stretches: from 13:00 to 15:00 (midday) and from 20:00 to 9:00 (night) you don't pay.
Keep in mind that in Andorra la Vella you pay Monday to Sunday, while in Escaldes Sundays and public holidays are free.
If You're Coming to Shop in the Center
The most direct and comfortable option is parking at the big shopping centers. With a minimum purchase of around €30 you get 2 hours of free parking, right by the main avenues:
- Andorra 2000: Big parking lot at the entrance to Andorra la Vella (View on Google Maps).
- Pyrénées Andorra: In the historic shopping heart of Andorra la Vella (View on Google Maps).
I used to recommend the E.Leclerc lot, but it's moved and the current one is quite a bit pricier than the competition, so I don't recommend it anymore.
The good news is that Andorra 2000 is right next to the new E.Leclerc, so you can park there and do your shopping at either one.
And what still pays off: if you spend €99 at E.Leclerc, they give you a free Envalira Tunnel ticket (~€7, very handy if you're coming from France in winter).

Parking Lots in the Center
If you don't want to drive around looking for a blue-zone spot, use a parking lot. In Andorra la Vella parking costs roughly the same as the blue zone during paid hours. Plus the first 30 minutes are free. These are 2 of the biggest and most central ones:
- Parc Central: big, open-air and steps from the shopping center (View on Google Maps).
- Fener: barely 50 meters from Avinguda Meritxell and next to the EO! Andorra shopping center (View on Google Maps).
In Andorra la Vella municipal parking costs 2,90€/h up to 24€ a day; in Escaldes, 2,48€/h open-air and 2,68€/h covered. In both, the first half hour is free.

View parking lots on Google MapsIf You're Staying in the Center (Hotels vs. Multi-Day Parking)
My recommendation if you want the most practical option is to sleep in the center so you can do everything on foot.
If price is your priority or you're coming to ski or hit the mountains, stay on the outskirts like El Tarter, where there are hotels with free parking and free lots at the foot of the slopes. You'll find the breakdown by area in my guide on where to stay in Andorra.
If you sleep in Andorra la Vella or Escaldes, private hotel parking usually runs between €18 and €25 a night. If you want peace of mind, it's the most comfortable option.
But it has two downsides: you usually can't reserve hotel parking and in high season you can end up with no spot. And if you've got a big car, make sure the entrance is wide, because many hotels have small entrances.
Here are 2 cheaper alternatives for the car:
- The Telpark trick: Book a space online at Empark Escaldes Centre (managed by Telpark). The big advantage over the hotel is that with their multi-day passes, the longer you leave your car, the cheaper the night works out.
- Parking Madriu for long stays: If you're staying several days and don't need to move the car every day, leave it for 2,50€/day at Parking Madriu.
If you'd rather have a hotel with its own garage, I suggest these two next to the shops and Caldea:
Hotel Metropolis (9.3 / 10) — Excellent 4★ value for money
"The room with an extra-large bed, the very complete breakfast buffet, the soundproofing, ample parking (depending on the vehicle they assign you one or another), perfect. 5 minutes from Caldea and 10 from the center."
Hotel & Aparthotel Cosmos (8.2 / 10) — Budget option
Its private parking costs €18/day, one of the most reasonable rates in the center.
"We chose to pay for the hotel parking (€18) since everything in the center is paid parking. Very central hotel. The breakfast buffet was very complete, all the staff were very friendly. Clean and cozy room."

Passes and Subscriptions for Several Days
If you're coming for several days in a row, passes work out much cheaper than paying by the hour. In Andorra la Vella's municipal lots you've got 3-, 7- and 30-day passes (€57.10, €81.90 and €114.10). You buy them on the spot at the lot's own pay machines, with no space reservation. More details on the Comú's official website.
In Escaldes, Empark Escaldes Centre (Telpark) has multi-day passes to book online: the more days you leave the car, the cheaper the night works out.
And if you live in Andorra or come very often, there are quarterly resident subscriptions (for example, Santa Coloma at €55.35/month). These do require applying at the ticket office — they're not instant: you'll find the forms on the Comú's official parking page.
Differences Between Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany
To get your bearings, use Illa Carlemany as your reference: the shopping center itself is already in Escaldes-Engordany, so from there up (Avinguda Carlemany, toward Caldea) is Escaldes, and down (Avinguda Meritxell, the pedestrian street and the Pyrénées supermarket) is Andorra la Vella.
- Andorra la Vella costs double in the blue zone: €3.16/h (tourists) vs. €1.40/h in Escaldes.
- Sundays and public holidays: in Andorra la Vella you pay every day, Sundays included. In Escaldes the blue zone is free on Sundays and public holidays.

Apps for Parking and Real-Time Availability
To move around smoothly and avoid fines or extra costs, these are the must-have digital tools:
ElParking (Blue Zone in Andorra la Vella)
It's the official app for paying the blue zone in Andorra la Vella. It lets you see the parking zones on the map, pay directly by card, and extend your ticket remotely without going back to the meter if you're shopping or at a restaurant.
Telpark (Empark Covered Lots)
It works in private covered lots like Empark Escaldes Centre (under the Illa Carlemany shopping center). It lets you enter and exit with automatic plate recognition and offers up to 40% off (€1.50/h instead of €2.83/h), plus multi-day passes.

The most important thing before getting into details: in Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria, Ordino and Canillo you also pay on Sundays. In Encamp, on the other hand, the whole weekend is free — Saturday and Sunday.

- La Massana: high season (2,35€/h) applies to foreign plates only; Andorran plates always pay 1,50€/h and don't pay on Sundays. High season: Dec 1–Apr 15 and Jun 24–Sep 9.
- Andorra la Vella: with an Andorran plate the blue zone costs 1,58€/h.
- La Massana's reference municipal lot is the Borda Torres parking.
- From open-air to covered · First half hour free (1h in Sant Julià open-air lots and Canillo).
- Usual hours: 9:00–13:00 and 15:00–20:00. Ordino charges 9:30–20:00 nonstop.
- Saturday: only Encamp and Pas de la Casa are free all weekend; everywhere else you pay on Saturdays.
- Municipal parking: base rate without passes or discounts; each parish guide details the deals.

Parking by Parish
Each Comú sets its own prices and hours, so here's the summary by parish. If you want the full detail with maps and hotels, open each dedicated guide.
Parking in Encamp
Encamp is my hometown, so I know it well. The big advantage of Encamp is that the blue zone (zona blava) is free on weekends. The green zone (zona verda) does charge on weekends. So if you find a spot in the blue zone on a weekend, you won't pay. It's pretty handy. In high season it can be a bit harder to find a spot, so better to go to an open-air municipal parking lot.
💡 Tip: Next to Radio Andorra, right at the entrance to Encamp (where the tunnel is), there's space in the blue zone even in high season. I checked on January 2nd after New Year's with no problem. Blue zone (blava):
€0.80–€1.05/h · Hours: Mon–Fri 9:00–13:00 and 15:00–20:00
✓ Free on weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
Green zone (verda):

Municipal parking lots:
First half hour free in open-air lots.
- • Funicamp Parking - €6.30 from 8:00 to 20:00 (1st half hour free). Ideal for skiing at Grandvalira via the longest cable car in Andorra (6km). Maps
- • Prat de Baró - Open-air, near the center. Maps
- • Prat de l'Areny - Open-air, next to the sports center. Maps
- • Arínsols - Underground, next to the Comú. Maps
Covered: €2.95/h · Open-air: €2/h (1st half hour free) · Night (10pm–8am): €7.15
Park and Ride (winter):
Park at the municipal lots (Prat de Baró, Prat de l'Areny or Arínsols), validate your ski pass at the tourist office (right next to Funicamp) or on the Funibus, and the parking + bus to Funicamp is free.
Parking in Canillo
I've put together a complete guide to parking in Canillo with all the details. Here's a summary of the main options, including the villages that belong to the Canillo parish: El Tarter and Soldeu.
You can check real-time availability in the parking lots here. You can also pay for the blue zone online at this link, though I haven't tried it personally.
- If you're coming to ski, it's best to park directly at the free parking lots in El Tarter or at Grandvalira's parking lots with 50% discount if you have a ski pass.
- For Canillo center outside ski season, you can usually find a spot in the blue zone. Note that Canillo also charges on Sundays.
- If you're coming for the Tibetan Bridge, you can't drive up — you have to park in Canillo village. I recommend the Els Arenys parking lot right next to the bus stop you need to take. For more details about the visit (prices, hours, how the bus works), check my Tibetan Bridge guide.

For the Tibetan Bridge:
You can't drive up. Park in Canillo village: Els Arenys parking (free, next to the bus) or blue zone (paid every day) or Prat del Riu
Grandvalira parking (ski):
50% discount with ski pass: Avet, Bassers, Arenyeta
Parking in El Tarter
El Tarter is one of the most popular villages to stay in when skiing at Grandvalira. It has a giant free open-air parking lot right at the base of the slopes, with a barrier that closes at 8pm. It's an ideal option if you want to save on parking and have direct slope access.

Parking in Soldeu
Soldeu is another key village in the Canillo parish. It has a covered Grandvalira parking lot with over 600 spaces right next to the cable car, plus free parking options on nearby streets. It's a good option if you want convenience and don't mind paying a bit for covered parking.

Parking in La Massana
There's usually not as many people as in Andorra la Vella and you can easily park in the blue or green zone. However, in high season it can be a bit more complicated, so better to go to a municipal parking lot.

If you're coming to ski or for the Bike Park, I recommend Parking El Farré Negre: it has a covered walkway connecting directly to the cable car, so you won't get wet or cold. They also have a promo: 7 consecutive hours = pay for 5.

Parking in Ordino
Ordino is a small, quiet village. There's usually not many people and you can easily park in the blue zone. In high season it can be a bit more complicated, so better to look for an open-air lot. Blue zone and green zone:
Blue: €1.60/h · Green: €1.60/h (same rate) · Hours: every day 9:30–20:00 (no break)

Free parking at the base with capacity for 1,500 vehicles. There's also VIP parking for €10/day with electric vehicle chargers.
Parking in Sant Julià de Lòria
Sant Julià is more peripheral and you can usually park easily in the blue or green zone. In high season it can be a bit more complicated, but there's usually space. I always recommend asking your hotel where to park — they know the area. If you have a hotel in Sant Julià, there might be free parking spots since it's more peripheral. In the center, though, that's not possible.

In Pas de la Casa, parking becomes a sport during ski season. Outside winter it's a different story — you can park in the blue zone with space available, and it's not expensive. The maximum daily blue zone rate is €10.40, but careful: almost no parking meters accept cards (only three in the whole town), so bring cash.
My advice if you're coming in ski season: park in the covered Parkia lots (Comunal and Vertical del Maià). They offer multi-day passes that work out cheaper than paying single days.

Attention: Since March 2025, Andorra has implemented a strict new regulation (Law 5/2025 on Sustainable Growth and the Right to Housing). Overnight parking outside official campsites and designated areas is prohibited. Fines can reach €600.
This law was created due to the growing number of motorhomes parking in unprepared mountain areas: lake access roads, hiking parking lots, protected natural areas. This caused environmental and safety issues, especially the obstruction of access roads.
What's prohibited: Overnight parking outside authorized areas, wild camping in public parking lots or natural spaces, deploying equipment (chocks, awning, chairs, tables) even during the day.
What's allowed: Daytime parking in regular public lots (without equipment), overnight stays at official campsites and designated areas.
Official campsites in Andorra
These are the official campsites where you can legally spend the night in Andorra with your motorhome or caravan:
- Camping Valira – Andorra la Vella (View on Google Maps)
- Camping Xixerella – Erts, La Massana (View on Google Maps)
- Camping Santa Creu – Canillo (View on Google Maps)
- Camping Casal – Canillo (View on Google Maps)
- Camping Janramon – Canillo (View on Google Maps)
Temporary designated areas
There are also temporary designated areas in Andorra. Since the situation can change, I recommend checking this Campernight article and especially the comments, where motorhome travelers share the latest information. You can also use the Campernight app to find all legal and safe geolocated zones.
Parking for Skiing in Andorra
If you're coming to ski, I recommend parking in the middle parishes: Encamp or La Massana. Park there, take the cable car up to the slopes, and when you come back you're already close to the center.
The end-of-day queues form between 4:40 PM and 6 PM. My tip: leave a bit earlier to avoid them. If you're coming from the slopes towards the center, you should be past Encamp before 4:40 PM or you'll get stuck in traffic.
Grandvalira
For Grandvalira, my favorite option is El Tarter. There are 2 large free outdoor parking lots at the base of the slopes. Careful: they have a barrier, so if you don't take your car out before 8 PM, it'll be locked in until the next day. Ideal if you want après-ski at l'Abarset, it's right at the parking lot. Another good option is Encamp. Park in the village, take the Funicamp (the longest cable car in Andorra, 6 km), and you get directly to the slopes. The Funicamp parking costs €6.30/day, but if you use the Park and Ride it's free: park in one of the communal lots in Encamp (Prat de Baró, Prat de l'Areny or Arínsols), validate your ski pass at the tourist office (right next to the Funicamp) or on the Funibus, and the parking + bus to the Funicamp is free.
- • El Tarter — Two free parking lots at the base of the slopes. Warning: barrier closes at 8 PM.
- • Soldeu — Paid covered parking (600+ spaces, 9 charging points). Parking in Soldeu guide.
- • Canillo — Communal parking with 50% discount with ski pass (Avet, Bassers, Arenyeta).
Pal-Arinsal (Vallnord)
For Pal-Arinsal, the best option is Parking El Farré Negre in La Massana. It has a covered walkway that connects directly to the cable car. Promo: if you park for 7 consecutive hours, you only pay for 5.
📍 View on Google MapsOrdino Arcalís
Ordino Arcalís is the easiest resort for parking: it has a free parking lot at the base with capacity for 1,500 vehicles. VIP parking for €10/day with electric vehicle chargers.
