When I was a kid, I remember my parents being able to park for free in the center. But now there are blue zones and green zones everywhere, so the question is how to pay as little as possible. It's true that in peripheral villages you can still park for free, but in the center it's pretty tricky. I created this guide to give you the best options.
Important: In Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià, Ordino and Canillo you pay for the blue zone every day, including Sundays. My dad confirmed me this. He got a fine for parking in the blue zone next to the Pyrénées on a Sunday morning. In Escaldes-Engordany and Encamp you don't pay on Sundays. In La Massana you pay on Sundays and public holidays, except if you have an Andorran license plate (then it's free).

Parking Madriu: The Cheapest in Andorra
The first tip I'll give you is Parking Madriu: it costs only 2,50€ per day and it's something I discovered while researching for this article. I was really surprised. It's about a 30-minute walk from the center, but for me it's worth it. If you come for the weekend, leave your car there, do the center tour, shopping, go to a restaurant, sleep at the hotel, and then pick up the car, no problem. Hotels with Parking in Andorra
One of the most convenient options is having a hotel with parking. I don't know of any hotels with free parking in the center. Hotel parking rates are usually around 20€–25€ per day.
If you prioritize convenience, I recommend focusing on these two options right next to the shopping center and Caldea:
Hotel Metropolis (9.3 / 10) — Excellent 4★ value for money
One of the highest-rated hotels in the area.
"The room with an extra-large bed, the very complete breakfast buffet, the soundproofing, ample parking (depending on the vehicle they assign you one or another), perfect. 5 minutes from Caldea and 10 from the center."
Hotel & Aparthotel Cosmos (8.2 / 10) — Budget option
A more affordable alternative with a great location. Its private parking costs €18/day, one of the most reasonable in the center. In June 2026 there are rooms for €80.
"We chose to pay for the hotel parking (€18) since everything in the center is paid parking. Very central hotel. The breakfast buffet was very complete, all the staff were very friendly. Clean and cozy room."
Tips to Save on Parking
It's usually not possible to reserve hotel parking in advance. In high season it's good to have a plan B. Also, hotel parking costs the same each night regardless of how long you stay. You have three excellent options depending on what you're looking for:
- Maximum savings: Leave your car at Parking Madriu for just 2,50€/day. It's exactly 1.4 km (about 25 minutes walking) from these hotels. The walking path is between trees and mountain. Note it's uphill.
- Convenience with discount: Reserve online at Empark Escaldes Centre (managed by Telpark). The big advantage over the hotel is that with their multi-day passes, the longer you leave your car, the cheaper the night gets.
- 100% free parking: If you don't mind being a bit further from the center, there are hotels on the outskirts with free parking included. Hotel del Tarter is in El Tarter which has a giant free parking lot, Hotel Yomo Patagonia in Arinsal offers free parking, and Hotel Pic Maia in Pas de la Casa includes uncovered parking at no extra cost. Real-Time Parking Availability
The Andorra la Vella city council offers a map showing available spaces in each parking lot:

ElParking is the app to pay for the blue zone in Andorra la Vella directly from your phone, without going to the meter. From the app you can see all blue zones on the map and extend time remotely without going back to your car.
Telpark is different: it works in private covered parking lots, like Empark Escaldes Centre under the Illa Carlemany shopping center. You can park and pay without queuing, and you also get a 40% discount: €1.50/h instead of €2.83/h.
💡 If your blue zone time is running out, extend your ticket from ElParking without going back to the car. Super useful if you're shopping or at a restaurant.
Price Comparison by Parish (blue zone · municipal parking)
The most important thing before getting into details: in Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria, Ordino and Canillo you also pay on Sundays. In Encamp, the whole weekend is free — Saturday and Sunday.

Typical paid hours: 9:00–13:00 and 15:00–20:00. Exceptions: Ordino charges from 9:30 to 20:00 without a break (every day).
Municipal parking prices are base rates without discounts or subscriptions. Each parish section includes offers, passes and more information.

Andorra la Vella: Andorran plates pay €1.58/h. La Massana: the high season rate (€2.35/h) only applies to foreign plates; Andorran plates always pay €1.50/h. Parking in Andorra la Vella
⚠️ Paid every day, including Sundays
My recommendation: if you're coming to shop, park directly at Pyrénées, E.Leclerc or Andorra2000. That way you're already at the shopping center and making the most of your time. With a minimum purchase (about €30) you get 2 hours free. Also, at E.Leclerc, if you spend €99 they give you a free ticket for the Envalira Tunnel (very useful if you're coming from France in winter). If you prefer to park on the street, use the blue zone (zona blava). With the ElParking app you can see all blue zones in Andorra la Vella on the map and pay directly from your phone.
That said, in high season or on holiday weekends these parking lots can fill up. If you can't find a spot, here's a list of municipal parking lots to check:
Blue zone (blava) and green zone (verda):

Parking in Escaldes-Engordany
Compared to Andorra la Vella, in Escaldes you can park for free in the blue zone on Sundays. And it's right next door, so it might be worth coming here if you're visiting on a Sunday.
If you're looking for the cheapest parking in Andorra, it's Parking Madriu: only 2,50€/day. It's a bit far from the center (40 min walk), but it's perfect if you're doing a Madriu Valley hike or staying several days and want to save.
If you prefer a large private parking lot where there's always space, Empark Escaldes Centre (under the Illa Carlemany shopping center) is a good option. Download the Telpark app to get a 40% discount: €1.50/h instead of €2.83/h.

Parking in Encamp
Encamp is my hometown, so I know it well. The big advantage of Encamp is that the blue zone (zona blava) is free on weekends. The green zone (zona verda) does charge on weekends. So if you find a spot in the blue zone on a weekend, you won't pay. It's pretty handy. In high season it can be a bit harder to find a spot, so better to go to an open-air municipal parking lot.
💡 Tip: Next to Radio Andorra, right at the entrance to Encamp (where the tunnel is), there's space in the blue zone even in high season. I checked on January 2nd after New Year's with no problem. - • Funicamp Parking - €6.30 from 8:00 to 20:00 (1st half hour free). Ideal for skiing at Grandvalira via the longest cable car in Andorra (6km). Maps
- • Prat de Baró - Open-air, near the center. Maps
- • Prat de l'Areny - Open-air, next to the sports center. Maps
- • Arínsols - Underground, next to the Comú. Maps
Covered: €2.95/h · Open-air: €2/h (1st half hour free) · Night (10pm–8am): €7.15
Park and Ride (winter):
Park at the municipal lots (Prat de Baró, Prat de l'Areny or Arínsols), validate your ski pass at the tourist office (right next to Funicamp) or on the Funibus, and the parking + bus to Funicamp is free.
Parking in Canillo
I've put together a complete guide to parking in Canillo with all the details. Here's a summary of the main options, including the villages that belong to the Canillo parish: El Tarter and Soldeu.
You can check real-time availability in the parking lots here. You can also pay for the blue zone online at this link, though I haven't tried it personally.
- If you're coming to ski, it's best to park directly at the free parking lots in El Tarter or at Grandvalira's parking lots with 50% discount if you have a ski pass.
- For Canillo center outside ski season, you can usually find a spot in the blue zone. Note that Canillo also charges on Sundays.
- If you're coming for the Tibetan Bridge, you can't drive up — you have to park in Canillo village. I recommend the Els Arenys parking lot right next to the bus stop you need to take. For more details about the visit (prices, hours, how the bus works), check my Tibetan Bridge guide.

Parking in El Tarter
El Tarter is one of the most popular villages to stay in when skiing at Grandvalira. It has a giant free open-air parking lot right at the base of the slopes, with a barrier that closes at 8pm. It's an ideal option if you want to save on parking and have direct slope access.

Parking in Soldeu
Soldeu is another key village in the Canillo parish. It has a covered Grandvalira parking lot with over 600 spaces right next to the cable car, plus free parking options on nearby streets. It's a good option if you want convenience and don't mind paying a bit for covered parking.

Parking in La Massana
There's usually not as many people as in Andorra la Vella and you can easily park in the blue or green zone. However, in high season it can be a bit more complicated, so better to go to a municipal parking lot.

If you're coming to ski or for the Bike Park, I recommend Parking El Farré Negre: it has a covered walkway connecting directly to the cable car, so you won't get wet or cold. They also have a promo: 7 consecutive hours = pay for 5.

Parking in Ordino
Ordino is a small, quiet village. There's usually not many people and you can easily park in the blue zone. In high season it can be a bit more complicated, so better to look for an open-air lot.

For skiing at Ordino Arcalís:
Free parking at the base with capacity for 1,500 vehicles. There's also VIP parking for €10/day with electric vehicle chargers.
Parking in Sant Julià de Lòria
Sant Julià is more peripheral and you can usually park easily in the blue or green zone. In high season it can be a bit more complicated, but there's usually space.
I always recommend asking your hotel where to park — they know the area. If you have a hotel in Sant Julià, there might be free parking spots since it's more peripheral. In the center, though, that's not possible.

In Pas de la Casa, parking becomes a sport during ski season. Outside winter it's a different story — you can park in the blue zone with space available, and it's not expensive. The maximum daily blue zone rate is €10.40, but careful: almost no parking meters accept cards (only three in the whole town), so bring cash.
My advice if you're coming in ski season: park in the covered Parkia lots (Comunal and Vertical del Maià). They offer multi-day passes that work out cheaper than paying single days.

Attention: Since March 2025, Andorra has implemented a strict new regulation (Law 5/2025 on Sustainable Growth and the Right to Housing). Overnight parking outside official campsites and designated areas is prohibited. Fines can reach €600.
This law was created due to the growing number of motorhomes parking in unprepared mountain areas: lake access roads, hiking parking lots, protected natural areas. This caused environmental and safety issues, especially the obstruction of access roads.
What's prohibited: Overnight parking outside authorized areas, wild camping in public parking lots or natural spaces, deploying equipment (chocks, awning, chairs, tables) even during the day.
What's allowed: Daytime parking in regular public lots (without equipment), overnight stays at official campsites and designated areas.
Official campsites in Andorra
These are the official campsites where you can legally spend the night in Andorra with your motorhome or caravan:
- Camping Valira – Andorra la Vella (View on Google Maps)
- Camping Xixerella – Erts, La Massana (View on Google Maps)
- Camping Santa Creu – Canillo (View on Google Maps)
- Camping Casal – Canillo (View on Google Maps)
- Camping Janramon – Canillo (View on Google Maps)
Temporary designated areas
There are also temporary designated areas in Andorra. Since the situation can change, I recommend checking this Campernight article and especially the comments, where motorhome travelers share the latest information. You can also use the Campernight app to find all legal and safe geolocated zones.
Parking for Skiing in Andorra
If you're coming to ski, I recommend parking in the middle parishes: Encamp or La Massana. Park there, take the cable car up to the slopes, and when you come back you're already close to the center.
The end-of-day queues form between 4:40 PM and 6 PM. My tip: leave a bit earlier to avoid them. If you're coming from the slopes towards the center, you should be past Encamp before 4:40 PM or you'll get stuck in traffic.
Grandvalira
For Grandvalira, my favorite option is El Tarter. There are 2 large free outdoor parking lots at the base of the slopes. Careful: they have a barrier, so if you don't take your car out before 8 PM, it'll be locked in until the next day. Ideal if you want après-ski at l'Abarset, it's right at the parking lot. Another good option is Encamp. Park in the village, take the Funicamp (the longest cable car in Andorra, 6 km), and you get directly to the slopes. The Funicamp parking costs €6.30/day, but if you use the Park and Ride it's free: park in one of the communal lots in Encamp (Prat de Baró, Prat de l'Areny or Arínsols), validate your ski pass at the tourist office (right next to the Funicamp) or on the Funibus, and the parking + bus to the Funicamp is free.
- • El Tarter — Two free parking lots at the base of the slopes. Warning: barrier closes at 8 PM.
- • Soldeu — Paid covered parking (600+ spaces, 9 charging points). Parking in Soldeu guide.
- • Canillo — Communal parking with 50% discount with ski pass (Avet, Bassers, Arenyeta).
Pal-Arinsal (Vallnord)
For Pal-Arinsal, the best option is Parking El Farré Negre in La Massana. It has a covered walkway that connects directly to the cable car. Promo: if you park for 7 consecutive hours, you only pay for 5.

Ordino Arcalís is the easiest resort for parking: it has a free parking lot at the base with capacity for 1,500 vehicles. VIP parking for €10/day with electric vehicle chargers.
