I was born and raised in Andorra, so I know well what's worth buying here and what isn't. Let me give you my honest opinion on what to buy in Andorra in 2026.

If you need a break from shopping, the Rec del Solà is very close to the centre and perfect for stretching your legs with panoramic views.
If you're reading this, you've probably heard that everything is cheaper in Andorra. Spoiler: not everything is. But there are things that are definitely worth it, and in this article I'll tell you exactly what they are, where to find them and how much you can really save.
What's worth it: electronics (iPhone, MacBooks), luxury perfumes, brand clothes, tobacco, alcohol and ski equipment. What's NOT worth it: basic groceries and non-brand basic clothes.
In this article I'll tell you which products are worth it, which aren't, the customs limits you need to respect, and practical tips to make the most of your shopping day.

Why shop in Andorra?
The reason is simple: VAT in Andorra is 4.5%, while in Spain it's 21%. That gives retailers room to have more competitive prices.
But be warned: not everything is cheaper. Everyday living costs in Andorra are more or less the same as in Spain, so for cheap products (food, school supplies, basic clothes) the difference is minimal. Where you really notice the saving is on high-value products.

As you can see, savings vary a lot depending on the product. On high-end electronics and perfumery you can save 20-30%, while on tobacco and alcohol savings can reach 50-60%. But remember: there's a 900€ per person limit when crossing the border.
When to shop: sales and hours
🏷️ Sales periods
Sales in Andorra are similar to Spain, but they usually start a few days earlier. You can take advantage of additional discounts that stack on top of already competitive prices.

- Winter sales 2025-2026: 26 December 2025 - 8 March 2026
- Sports equipment sales: 6 February - 19 April 2026
- Black Friday and Cyber Monday: November
🕒 Opening hours
Most shops open from 10:00 to 20:00, although some close at midday (approx 13:30-15:00).
On Sundays, hours are usually reduced, closing at 19:00.
Public holidays (closed): January 1, March 14, September 8 and December 25.
🚗 Where to park
Best parking options near the avenue:
- • Parking Madriu: 2,50€/day (cheapest, 30 min walk)
- • E.Leclerc: Free with purchases
- • Pyrénées: Central, ideal for shopping
The Carlemany section north of Illa Carlemany is in Escaldes-Engordany, where the blue zone is free on Sundays. Unlike Andorra la Vella where you pay every day.
If you can, avoid bank holiday weekends and peak season weekends: more crowds, more queues and car parks fill up fast.
What's worth buying in Andorra
Electronics and tech ⚡

Everything iPhone, MacBooks, cameras, consoles and video games is cheaper here. Savings range from 8-20% depending on the product.
For phones, I recommend the AliExpress Store on Avenida Meritxell. I bought my Xiaomi phone there in 2021 for 80€ when it was an official Xiaomi store. Now it's changed to AliExpress Store (another company), but they still sell Xiaomi phones and my phone still works perfectly.
For computers there's Fnac inside Pyrénées. They have a good range of laptops and books, and thanks to the tax it's cheaper.
Then there are the big shopping centres like Andorra 2000, Illa Carlemany and CCA (soon to be called Ualio), which also have good prices and a wide selection of electronics.
💡 Tip: I recommend buying from a large shopping centre or well-known chain because warranty is easier to handle. If you buy from a small shop, you might come back and find it's gone. Though sometimes in small shops you can negotiate a better price.
Limit: 900€ per person. And this limit can't be split: if you buy a 1,000€ phone and go with your partner who buys nothing, you can't split it. You'd have to declare and pay taxes.
Perfumes and cosmetics 💄

Luxury perfumes (Chanel, Dior, Tom Ford...) are quite popular here. Savings are between 20-30% compared to Spain. There are lots of shops all along Avenida Meritxell. For more details on the best perfume shops, check our guide to perfume shops in Andorra.
The two best-known perfumeries are Júlia and Gala (next to each other). Both have good variety and competitive prices.
Customs limit: 75g perfume + 375ml eau de cologne per person.
Fashion and brand clothes 👟

On expensive brand fashion, since there's high added value, the tax difference plays a big role and you can save a lot. Quality sports brands (The North Face, Patagonia) and luxury clothing have better prices. To find the best shops, check our guide to clothes shops in Andorra.
My mum bought a brand shirt at Scalpers (in Illa Carlemany) that cost 59€ in Spain. In Andorra the same shirt was 44€ (already 25% cheaper), but she got it on sale for just 25€. That's 58% savings compared to Spain. As you can see in the photos above, the difference is huge.
On Avenida Meritxell and Carlemany there are loads of clothes shops: Zara, Mango, Mango Outlet, Stradivarius, Options+, Kilvil, etc.
And since Andorra has lots of skiing, there's a good range of ski and mountain gear: you'll find good variety and deals on brands like Rossignol, Atomic and Salomon. Watches and jewellery ⌚
Everything Rolex, Omega, TAG Heuer and gold jewellery is cheaper here. But you need to keep in mind the 900€ limit. If you buy something over 900€, you'll have to declare and pay Spanish VAT, so you need to calculate whether it's still worth it.
A well-known jeweller is The Embassy, on Avenida Meritxell.
Tobacco and alcohol 🚬🍷

Same with alcohol: vodka, whisky, rum... everything is cheaper here because there aren't the same special taxes. You can easily save 50% compared to Spain.
Tobacco is the most well-known: roughly 50% cheaper than in France and 25% cheaper than in Spain. And the price is regulated by the Andorran government, so it doesn't matter if you buy in Pas de la Casa or in central Andorra la Vella — the price is the same.
Alcohol is also much cheaper, especially premium spirits. You can find good wines and spirits at any tobacco shop or at specialist shops like Cava Benito.
Tobacco limits (choose ONE option):
- • 300 cigarettes (1.5 cartons)
- • Or 150 cigarillos
- • Or 75 cigars
- • Or 400g rolling tobacco
Alcohol limits:
- • 5L wine + 1.5L spirits >22°
- • Or 5L wine + 3L spirits ≤22°
Pharmacy and supplements 💊
Supplements and vitamins can be quite expensive, so without the 21% VAT you can save something. Any pharmacy on Avenida Meritxell or the Illa Carlemany pharmacy will do.
What's NOT worth buying
Not everything is worth the trip. Here are things where the saving is minimal or non-existent:
- Fast fashion clothes: A normal t-shirt will cost about the same as in Spain. At Primark you'll probably find a better price.
- School supplies and everyday items: Since they're not expensive, the VAT difference isn't noticeable. And they take up space in the car that could be used for more profitable items.
- Basic groceries: I'll share an anecdote — some Andorrans go to La Seu d'Urgell to shop at Mercadona. That gives you an idea that for food, prices are more or less the same, sometimes there's even more variety or slightly lower prices in Spain.
In short: if the product costs less than 50€, it's probably not worth the trip just for that. Focus on high-value products.
Customs limits: what you need to know
Andorra is not in the European Union, so when you leave for Spain or France, you cross a real customs border. Checks are frequent, especially on weekends.

Outlets 🏷️
If you're looking for discounts on brand clothes, ski gear or sports equipment, Andorra has several outlet shops where you can find significant savings all year round, not just during sale season.

The centre of Andorra la Vella is where the action is. Avenida Meritxell and Avenida Carlemany (which continues into Escaldes-Engordany) are the two main shopping arteries.

A 4-floor department store. Downstairs is Fnac, where you'll find computers and a good selection of books at great prices. See on Google Maps
Andorra 2000 🛍️
Large shopping centre with supermarket, electronics and lots of variety. See on Google Maps
Pas de la Casa 🏔️
If you're coming from France, Pas de la Casa has good options. It's smaller than central Andorra la Vella, but you can find more or less the same things. Maybe not as much fashion variety, but still plenty.
And one important thing: tobacco prices are regulated in Andorra and must be the same everywhere. So it doesn't matter if you're in Pas de la Casa — you don't need to go all the way to the centre for the best deals.

Another shopping area where you have the historic Andorra 2000 (now Carrefour). Still has electronics, gourmet food at a discount compared to Spain, and small shops and restaurants. A less crowded area than Avenida Meritxell.
Practical tips
Before you go 📋

- • Calculate the real saving: is it worth the trip?
- • Check opening hours: Sundays shops close at 7pm, and there are 4 public holidays a year
- • Download offline maps in case you don't have data
While shopping 💳
- • Keep all receipts: you'll need them at customs
- • Don't exceed the limits: fines can be severe
- • Ask about warranty if buying electronics
On return (customs) 🚨
- • Have your receipts organised in case you're stopped
- • If you exceed the limits, declare and pay: better than risking a fine
- • Checks are frequent, especially on weekends
Hotels Near the Shopping Area
If you're coming for shopping, the ideal is to sleep nearby so you don't have to take the car every time you want to visit a store. The outlets and Av. Meritxell are right in the centre of Andorra: Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany. So the hotels in this area leave you 5-15 minutes walk from almost everything.
In this section I'm giving you 3 hotels in the centre that I recommend: a 4-star (Hotel Metropolis), a more affordable 3-star (Hotel & Aparthotel Cosmos) and the cheapest of all, a hostel in the old town (Barri Antic Hostel & Pub). All three are within walking distance of the shopping area and I've chosen them to cover three different budgets.
1️⃣ Hotel Metropolis - 4★ with the best rating (Recommended)
⭐ Rating: 9.3/10 · 🏨 Category: 4 stars · 📍 Location: Escaldes-Engordany (~10 min walk from Av. Meritxell) · 🅿️ Parking: 18€/night (ample parking)
Hotel Metropolis is a 4-star and has one of the best ratings in the area. It's in Escaldes, right next to the river, and the walk to Av. Meritxell goes through Prat del Roure park and the Dalí Clock: very pleasant for walking with shopping bags. It's about 20-30€ more expensive than the Cosmos, but the room, breakfast buffet and staff treatment justify the difference.

2️⃣ Hotel & Aparthotel Cosmos - 3★ with cheap parking
⭐ Rating: 8.2/10 · 🏨 Category: 3 stars · 📍 Location: Andorra la Vella, right in the centre · 🅿️ Parking: 18€/day
The Cosmos is a well-located 3-star, right in the centre of Andorra la Vella. Its private parking costs 18€/day, one of the most reasonable prices among central hotels. If you come in low season you can find rooms for €80. I recommend it if you're looking for an affordable option without giving up being right in the heart of the shopping area, and also if you prefer having parking included in the price.

3️⃣ Barri Antic Hostel & Pub - The cheapest option
⭐ Rating: 8.9/10 · 📍 Location: Barri Antic, Andorra la Vella (old town)
If you're looking for the cheapest option right in the centre, I recommend this hostel in the Barri Antic (old town) of Andorra la Vella. It has its own pub, shared kitchen and a very pleasant youthful atmosphere. Most guests are young backpackers or couples on a tight budget. To park you can use Parking Madriu (€2.10/day, 30 min walk) or look for blue zone/free parking nearby.
