Escaldes-Engordany is the perfect parish to park without breaking the bank: the blue zone is free on Sundays and public holidays, unlike Andorra la Vella where you pay every day. Add to that the Parking Madriu (a 30-min walk but only 2,50€/day), and you've got all your options covered.
I wrote this guide after researching and cross-checking information with the official prices from the Comú d'Escaldes-Engordany. If you haven't seen my general guide on where to park in Andorra, it has recommendations for each parish.
If you're organizing a more complete trip, I also recommend the guide on how to get to Andorra (port, tunnel, bus and car) and my 2-3 day itinerary for Andorra with plans for each day.
Quick Summary
If you're in a hurry, here's what I'd do depending on your situation:
- Cheapest in the country: Parking Madriu at 2,50€/day. It's a 30-min walk uphill but it's the cheapest.
- Coming on a Sunday or public holiday: the blue zone in Escaldes is free all day.
- Staying in the center: Hotel with parking like the Hotel Metropolis or the Empark Escaldes Centre private parking via Telpark. It works out to €1.50/h (40% discount) and multi-day passes lower the nightly rate.
- Going to Caldea: the Empark Escaldes Centre is a 5-min walk, covered, and with the express entry you get 40% off (€1.50/h).
Parking Madriu: The Cheapest in Andorra
I'll tell you right away because it's the trick that surprised me most: Parking Madriu costs only 2,50€ per day with the first half hour free. It's a municipal open-air parking lot in Escaldes-Engordany, on Carretera de Engolasters (CS-200), right where the road to Lake Engolasters and the Madriu Valley (UNESCO World Heritage Site) begins.
It's about 30 minutes walking from the center of Escaldes and 40 minutes from the center of Andorra la Vella. If you're staying several days and don't mind walking (or taking a bus), you'll save a lot compared to paying €17-20/night at the hotel parking lot. If you want more detailed directions, a map and how to access the Madriu Valley, I have a dedicated Parking Madriu page.
Parking Madriu Practical Info
- Price: 2,50€/day (first half hour free)
- Location: Carretera de Engolasters, Escaldes-Engordany
- Distance to center: 30 min walk to Escaldes, 40 min to Andorra la Vella
- Ideal for: 2-3 day stays or Madriu Valley excursions
Hotels with Parking in Escaldes-Engordany
Hotels in central Escaldes usually have parking, but almost all are paid and cost between 15 and 25€/day. If you prioritize convenience (coming and going as you please with your car at the door) it's worth it; if not, first check the blue zone or the Empark with Telpark, which are quite a bit cheaper. Here are three options I've reviewed:
Hotel Roc Blanc & Spa (8.1 / 10) — Central, with spa option
Right next to Avinguda Carlemany. Private covered parking. It's the classic option if you're looking for a spa and maximum convenience.
Hotel Metropolis (9.3 / 10) — Best value for money
One of the highest-rated in the area and usually has good prices.
"The room with an extra-large bed, the very complete breakfast buffet, the soundproofing, ample parking (depending on the vehicle they assign you one or another), perfect. 5 minutes from Caldea and 10 from the center."
Hotel & Aparthotel Cosmos (8.2 / 10) — Budget option with parking
Private hotel parking at €18/day, one of the most affordable in the center. It's in a quiet area but less than 100 meters from the shopping center and a 10-minute walk from Caldea.
"We chose to pay for the hotel parking (€18) since everything in the center is paid parking. Very central hotel. The breakfast buffet was very complete, all the staff were very friendly. Clean and cozy room."
If you want to save as much as possible, there are also hotels on the outskirts with free parking included: in my guide to hotels with free parking in Andorra you'll find all the options compared (El Tarter, Arinsal, Pas de la Casa, etc.).
Escaldes-Engordany Blue Zone: What You Need to Know
The blue zone in Escaldes-Engordany has friendlier hours than Andorra la Vella, where you pay every day including Sunday.
The ElParking app doesn't work in Escaldes — it's only for Andorra la Vella. For reference, from Illa Carlemany northwards is Escaldes-Engordany and southwards is Andorra la Vella.
Rate
€1.40/hour. Minimum fraction of €0.20. No distinction between Andorran and foreign license plates, so the price is the same for everyone.
Paid hours
Monday to Saturday, 9:30 to 13:00 and 15:00 to 20:00. Outside those hours (13:00 to 15:00, 20:00 to 9:00, and all Sundays and public holidays) it's free.
✓ Free on Sundays and public holidays, regardless of license plate. This is the big advantage over Andorra la Vella, where you do pay on Sunday.

Empark Escaldes Centre: Great Option in the Heart of Town
Empark Escaldes Centre is a large underground parking lot, close to Avinguda Carlemany. It has spacious spots and several entrances. It's managed by Telpark: download the app, enter your license plate and you're done. You don't need a ticket to enter or exit, the app handles everything automatically.
The best part is that with the express entry you get a 40% discount off the normal rate: you pay €1.50/h instead of €2.83/h. More information about the discount from this Telpark link.
Plus, you can reserve for several days in advance online. Then you can come and go as many times as you want. The express entry discount doesn't apply in this case, but the more days you book, the cheaper it gets.

Escaldes-Engordany has several municipal parking lots (managed by the Comú). All of them offer the first half hour free.

Where to Park for Caldea
Visiting Caldea is definitely worth it if you're traveling to Andorra. Caldea's own parking lot is convenient but expensive (around €3/h). I recommend Empark Escaldes Centre, which is right next door, about a 5-minute walk away, and with express entry you get a 40% discount. You just need to download the app and it costs around €1.50/h. See Telpark discount. Alternatives:
- Clot d'Emprivat (open-air): 5 min walk to Caldea, first half hour free, then €2.48/h.
- Blue zone (free Sundays and public holidays): around Avinguda Carlemany, free if your visit lands on a Sunday or public holiday.

Apps and Real-Time Availability
Telpark is the key app for Escaldes-Engordany if you're using Empark Escaldes Centre. It gives you a 40% discount off standard rates, allows you to book a space online in advance, and multi-day passes reduce the price per night.
ElParking doesn't work in Escaldes — it's only for Andorra la Vella. With that app you can pay for blue zone parking from your phone. As a landmark, from Illa Carlemany inclusive heading north is Escaldes-Engordany, and heading south is Andorra la Vella.
The Comú d'Escaldes-Engordany publishes official rates and schedules on its website (e-e.ad), and municipal parking lots don't have a real-time availability map like the one in Andorra la Vella (sit.andorralavella.ad).
