Outdoor adventures for families
Andorra is a great place to get children outside, with mountain scenery, forest paths and activities that change with the season. Naturland in Sant Julià de Lòria has year-round and seasonal attractions, including the Tobotronc alpine coaster, described as the world's longest at more than 5 km; check height, age and operating requirements before you go.
In winter, ski areas offer beginner zones and family lessons. In warmer months, choose a short, clearly marked walk and adapt the route to the youngest member of your group.
Naturland: Tobotronc and adventure park
Naturland (formerly Naturlandia) is in Sant Julià de Lòria. Its best-known attraction is the Tobotronc, an alpine coaster with a route of more than 5 km through the forest and mountains. The park also offers zip lines and rope courses, buggies and electric bikes, the Naturland Farm animal area and guided forest walks.
The Tobotronc has a minimum height of 1.20 m, and children under 14 must be accompanied. The park is open year-round, but opening hours and activities vary by season; check the official site for current rules and tickets.
Grandvalira: skiing and winter activities
Grandvalira has beginner areas, ski schools, snow childcare and activities for different ages. The Canillo, El Tarter and Grau Roig sectors are particularly good choices for families looking for a quieter atmosphere. Choose a lesson or area suited to each child's experience and check which facilities are open on your dates.
Mon(t) Magic Family Park
Mon(t) Magic in Canillo is a mountain adventure park at over 2,000 m, with summer activities such as the Magic Gliss mountain slide, zip lines, trampolines, mini-golf, water games and walks by the lake. Activity availability, minimum heights and opening days change, so check the current programme before planning your visit.
Easy walks and mountain scenery
Rec del Solà and Lake Engolasters are good options for families looking for a gentler outdoor outing. The flat loop around Lake Engolasters takes about 30 minutes; it is the only lake in Andorra you can reach directly by car. Nearby, Bosc Aventura Engolasters has zip lines and treetop balance activities, while the short Circuit de les Fonts passes through the woods to one of Andorra's wooden Tamarro figures. Part of the lake often freezes in winter, so take care on icy patches. Choose a route for the youngest walkers and check the trail surface and weather before setting out.
See the Lake Engolasters guide for directions by car, bus or on foot from Encamp and more ideas for the surrounding area.
The free Encamp Tibetan Bridge
The free suspension bridge at Els Cortals d'Encamp is different from the ticketed Canillo Tibetan Bridge. Reach it from the Funicamp's intermediate station or drive to the climbing wall on the road and walk for about 15 minutes. The path is easy and family-friendly when conditions allow; in summer, the nearby river is a place to cool off.
Find access details in the Encamp Tibetan Bridge guide.
Indoor activities and swimming
When the weather turns, families can choose indoor leisure activities, museums or a visit to a swimming and wellness centre. Caldea has family access options as well as areas with age restrictions, so review the rules before booking.
Swimming facilities, play areas and opening times vary by season. Have a back-up plan for rainy or very cold days, especially if you are travelling with young children.
Indoor activities and swimming
Bowling is a useful indoor option for a rainy afternoon.
Caldea Likids: a thermal experience for children
Caldea is a large thermal centre in Escaldes-Engordany, with hot-water pools, bubble baths and relaxation areas. Likids is a dedicated spa for children aged 3–8, where specialised monitors lead aquatic activities and sensory games. Adults can use other Caldea areas, including Plus (formerly Orígenes) and Premium (formerly Inúu), which has panoramic mountain views. Check current area names, schedules, age requirements and supervision rules before booking.
Palau de Gel in Canillo
The Palau de Gel is a year-round family option in Canillo. It has an Olympic-size ice rink, a heated swimming pool, a play area and a bar. In summer, the Splash water park adds slides and water jets. Check the official timetable for seasonal opening and activity availability.
Bowling in Escaldes-Engordany
Club Energy bowling is on Avinguda Carlemany, close to Caldea. Alongside bowling lanes, it has darts, table football, arcade machines and a bar serving snacks and drinks. It is a useful indoor plan for a rainy day or after a visit to the thermal centre; check opening times and lane availability before going.
Roc del Quer viewpoint
The Roc del Quer viewpoint in Canillo has a glass-sided walkway extending over the valley, with panoramic views of the Pyrenees. The walkway has safety railings and can be visited with children, but may not suit anyone afraid of heights. Supervise children closely and check access arrangements before setting out.
If you would prefer a viewpoint with less exposure, see my guide to Andorra's viewpoints.
Canillo Tibetan Bridge
A few kilometres from Roc del Quer, the Canillo Tibetan Bridge is more than 600 m long and hangs 187 m above the Montaup valley. It is an exciting outing for adventurous families, generally suited to children from around age 10. A shuttle bus runs from the car park, and it is also possible to walk from Canillo. Check the current ticket, shuttle, season and age requirements before visiting.
See the Canillo Tibetan Bridge guide for current visitor information.
Les Bons: a medieval village for children
Les Bons is a medieval village about five minutes by car from Encamp centre and is listed among Andorra's prettiest villages. Its main landmarks are the Romanesque church of Sant Romà de les Bons, dating from the 12th century, and the Moorish Tower, which has panoramic views over the valley. Allow about an hour for a short visit; some paths are steep. Children can also spot the old dovecotes and hear local legends such as the Bany de la Reina Mora.
Another photogenic village to visit with children is Auvinyà, in Sant Julià de Lòria, known for its wrought-iron sculptures.
Urban parks for a relaxed break
For a relaxed pause, choose a central green space: Prat del Roure in Escaldes-Engordany has lawns, playground equipment and sports courts; Parc Central in Andorra la Vella has children's play areas, fountains and picnic spaces; and Encamp's Parc de l'Ossa has swings, slides and space for skating or football. Rec del Solà is a mostly flat walk with views over Andorra la Vella after an initial uphill stretch of around 10–15 minutes.
Museums to visit with children
For an indoor cultural visit, consider the Tobacco Museum at the Reig factory, the Motorcycle Museum in Canillo or Bici Lab Andorra in the capital. Check current opening times, age suitability and any family activities.
- Tobacco Museum (Fàbrica Reig), Sant Julià de Lòria: the history of tobacco production, with models and videos.
- Motorcycle Museum, Canillo: classic motorcycles and interactive displays.
- Bici Lab Andorra, Andorra la Vella: cycling and sustainable mobility, with educational activities.
Practical tips for visiting with children
Distances in the mountains can take longer than they look on a map. Plan one main activity per part of the day, leave room for meals and rest, and carry layers because weather can change quickly with altitude.
Check attraction schedules and height or age limits before setting out. Travelling by car is often easiest for families, although buses serve the main attractions. For popular activities during school holidays, book ahead and confirm parking, transport and cancellation policies.

- Choose walks by age, ability and current trail conditions.
- Pack layers, water and snacks for mountain outings.
- Check height and age requirements for rides and spa areas.
- Use the bus for main attractions if you are not travelling by car.
Tips for enjoying Andorra as a family
Distances and activity times can be longer than they look on a map, especially when travelling between parishes. Plan one main activity at a time, allow for rest and meals, and have an indoor alternative in case of bad weather.
- Book popular attractions during school holidays.
- Check parking, transport and the opening calendar in advance.
- Carry layers and snacks for high-altitude outings.
