The next place I'm taking you is without a doubt my favourite mountain spot in Andorra. It's a place I usually go with my family and the dogs at pretty much every time of year, and it's beautiful to watch how the colours change with the seasons.
This is the Tibetan Bridge in Encamp, less known than the Tibetan Bridge in Canillo, but it's free. This suspension bridge is a bit smaller, but at least it costs nothing, it's easy to reach and there's barely anyone around.
In this guide I'll explain how to get there, where to park, the two routes to the bridge, what else you can do in the area (spoiler: go for a swim in the river), and a bonus viewpoint we spotted on the way down.
If you want to plan a full day combining the bridge with other activities, you'll like my Andorra in 2-3 days itinerary. On day 1 I combine the Tibetan Bridge in Encamp with the Bosc de les Allaus viewpoint, the village of Les Bons and Caldea in one full day. And if you want to see everything the village has to offer, I've got a complete guide to what to do in Encamp with monuments, museums and hiking trails.
Updated on 9 April 2026
The path is accessible again. The snow has melted and the trail is clear, so you can visit the Tibetan Bridge in Encamp with no problem. There's still snow on the far side of the river though, so the walks are limited for now.

Why it's my favourite mountain spot
It's a place I visit with my family and the dogs all year round. The nice thing is watching how the colours change with the season: deep green in spring, flowers in summer, ochre tones in autumn.
I like going for a swim a little further up the river, where there's a bit more depth. Swimming in mountain water like that is one of my passions, whether it's a river, a mountain pool or a lake. If you like that too, have a look at my guide to Andorra's lakes with options for every level and where you can swim. And if it's swimming in general you're after, I've got a guide to where to swim in Andorra with rivers, natural pools and municipal swimming pools.

How to get there and where to park
There are two ways to get to this spot:
🚡 Option 1: Funicamp
You can go straight up the Funicamp and get off at the intermediate stop. It's the most comfortable option if you don't want to drive up.
🚗 Option 2: By car
Take the Els Cortals road from the Funicamp and drive up. You have to stop when you see a climbing wall on the road. It's about 15 minutes up from the village.
Where to park
There's a small free car park up by the Funicamp intermediate stop. What I usually do with my family is park right next to the climbing wall, pull the car in to the side of the road and leave it there. Not many people go up anyway and the road is wide, so there's no problem at all. If you go on a weekend in high season the intermediate stop car park can fill up, and in that case park a bit further down the road.
The path to the bridge
The path from the climbing wall is less than a kilometre and it's very accessible if you take the direct route. There are two options though:
⚡ Direct route (quick)
From the climbing wall, follow the path that starts ahead of you, on the left of the wall. You reach the bridge in 10 minutes.
🌿 Panoramic route (my favourite)
When I go with my family we take the right-hand path, which loops a bit more, goes past the river down below and then reaches the bridge from the other side. That way you get to take in more of the scenery and enjoy the walk. The photo above was taken from that second path.

What to do around the bridge
If you want to spend a while here you can put your feet in the water in the river in summer. Or keep walking upstream along the river, where you can walk for more than an hour.
The good thing is that a little further up there are spots with deeper water where you can go in completely. Swimming like that in mountain water is one of my passions.
There are also areas that are perfect for a picnic if you want to spend the afternoon there. Just remember not to leave any rubbish behind. It's a natural area that needs looking after so it stays that way.
If you like a bit of adventure, in the same area of Cortals d'Encamp you've got the Clots de l'Aspra via ferrata, an equipped route at K1/K2 level, perfect for getting into via ferratas.
Upstream there are deeper spots where you can swim
Spring and summer flowers
This area is beautiful in spring and summer. In summer there's a blue-violet flower called a thistle that must be everywhere else too, but I've only ever seen it there. I find it a really lovely flower.

A winter visit
In winter access gets complicated if there's snow. The problem is that your feet sink into it and you can't walk the trail properly.
However, before the start of the season or towards the end of it, when there's no snow, you can go with no problem. I went with some friends on the last weekend of November, when there was a bit of snow in the landscape but the path was clear.
Bonus: Bosc de les Allaus Viewpoint
If you go by car, on the way down you'll pass a church, and right there there's a viewpoint called the Bosc de les Allaus Viewpoint. The church is Sant Jaume dels Cortals.
From that viewpoint you can see the whole village of Encamp from aboveand it's really good. It's worth stopping for a moment. If you like this kind of natural viewpoint, have a look at my guide to the best viewpoints in Andorra.
