If you like old stone houses, you'll like Sispony. It's a small village in La Massana with one of the best-known house museums in Andorra, Casa Rull.
This guide is based on photos and a walk my mom did recently. I'll tell you what to see, where to stay and how to get there. If you like charming villages, check out my guide to the prettiest villages in Andorra.
What is Sispony
Sispony is a village in the parish of La Massana, at 1,360 meters above sea level. It has around a thousand residents and is one of the quarts of the parish.
Its streets mix old stone houses with more modern buildings. The village is home to the church of Sant Joan and Casa Rull, which dates back to the 17th century.
Sispony also has a curious story behind it. There were witch trials here in the 16th and 17th centuries, and during World War II the village sat right on an escape route. If you're into that kind of history, the Govern runs a guided tour of Sispony that goes past the church, Cal Jubellà and Casa Rull.
What to See in Sispony
Church of Sant Joan de Sispony
Av. de les Comes, Sispony (Google Maps)
The church of Sant Joan dates back to the 17th century, in Baroque style, and was declared a Cultural Heritage Site in 2003. Inside you'll find a Gothic carving of Sant Joan.
It sits right in the center, surrounded by stone houses, so it's a very photogenic spot.
Casa Rull Museum
Carrer Major, Sispony (Google Maps)
Casa Rull is a 17th-century house turned into a museum. It shows how a well-off farming family lived back when agriculture and livestock were the backbone of the Andorran economy.
Part of the original structure and period objects are preserved. During the visit they play an audiovisual presentation that helps you get oriented.
General admission costs 5 euros and reduced admission 2.5 euros. The guided tour adds a supplement of 1.50 euros per person, and kids under 10 get in free.
In October the museum opens Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. It's closed on Sunday and Monday (info updated in October 2026).
I recommend checking opening hours and prices on the official Casa Rull Museum page, since they change with the season. The visit takes 30 to 45 minutes.
Inside you can see the kitchen with its fireplace, the old desk and period utensils. These interior photos are from Wikimedia Commons:

Strolling Through the Center and Its Stone Houses
For me, the best thing about Sispony is simply walking around. The stone houses with wooden balconies are very well preserved, and every street has some detail worth photographing.
El Pastador
Carrer de la Closa, 3 (Google Maps)
El Pastador is a workshop in the middle of the village that makes jams, preserves and chutneys with local ingredients.
If you like local products, it's a good stop to pick up a tasty souvenir.
The Vegetable Garden and the Donkey
In the village there's a local producer's vegetable garden with direct sale of seasonal vegetables. My mom saw it on her walk and told me there are sale days right at the garden.
I haven't managed to find the exact day published anywhere, so if you're interested just ask a neighbor.
A little donkey usually wanders around next to one of the gardens. My mom found it funny to bump into him there, looking so calm.
Jou La Borda
Av. de les Comes, 3 (Google Maps)
Jou La Borda is a mountain restaurant that combines Andorran tradition with contemporary cooking. The place keeps the charm of an old borda, with wood, a terrace and big windows.
It opens Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, and Sunday for lunch only. Sunday evening and Monday it closes (hours from their official website, checked in October 2026). I recommend booking a table before you go.
The Old Borda Jovell Hostel
This stone building with a tower is the old Borda Jovell hostel, at Av. del Jovell 18. It was a hostel in a renovated medieval building, with a restaurant and mountain views.
Everything points to it being closed: the latest review on Tripadvisor is from 2017 and it no longer shows up on booking sites. I'm leaving it here out of curiosity because the building is pretty and you'll come across it while walking around.
Sispony Picnic Area
Near Carrer la Rabal (Google Maps)
There's a small picnic spot with a grill, two tables and a fountain. Having lunch outdoors in a mountain village sounds like a great plan to me.
Before you go, check the official Andorra picnic areas page to see its condition and facilities.
