The Roc del Quer viewpoint is one of the best-known viewpoints in Andorra. It has a glass walkway suspended over the void and a sculpture of "The Thinker" that's become very Instagrammable. But let me be honest with you: I'm not sure it's worth paying €6 just to go to the viewpoint.
There are equally beautiful viewpoints in Andorra that are completely free, like the Bosc de les Allaus viewpoint or the Les Fonts viewpoint where you can see central Andorra from above. You can see all the viewpoints in the country in my guide of the best viewpoints in Andorra. However, if you're already planning to visit the Canillo Tibetan Bridge, then it does make sense to get the combo pack for €20 that includes both. That way you make the most of the trip and the bus to see both spots. If you're planning to come for several days, in my Andorra in 2-3 days itinerary I include Roc del Quer as an option to combine with the Tibetan Bridge. In this article I'll cover everything: prices, hours, how to get there and my honest opinion.
What is the Roc del Quer Viewpoint
The Roc del Quer viewpoint is a suspended glass walkway in Canillo, at 1,913 meters altitude. The platform is 20 meters long, of which 12 meters hang over the void, giving a brutal vertigo-inducing sensation.
The floor is partially glass (though according to many reviews it's quite scratched and opaque), and there's a sculpture of "The Thinker" by Miguel Ángel González sitting on the edge. It's very photogenic and has become popular on Instagram.
From the viewpoint you can see the Montaup and Valira d'Orient valleys. The views are nice, I won't deny that, but there are many viewpoints in Andorra with equally spectacular views that are free.
If you're looking for more action, the Roc del Quer wall also has a K3 level via ferrata that descends along the same rock. A different way to experience the mountain.
Roc del Quer Viewpoint Price
The entrance fee is 6 € for adults. There's a reduced rate of €4 for children under 12 and youth card holders. Children under 5 enter for free. Tickets can be purchased directly at the viewpoint booth or online on the official website.
There's also a combo pack with the Canillo Tibetan Bridge for €20 that includes the official bus from Canillo to both sites. If you're already planning to visit the Tibetan Bridge, this pack makes more sense than paying for the viewpoint separately.
Note: The standard entrance does NOT include bus transport. Access is by private vehicle with free parking available.
Opening Hours
The viewpoint is open year-round. Hours are:
- Weekdays (Monday to Friday): 10:00 to 17:00
- Weekends (Saturday and Sunday): 10:00 to 18:00
I recommend checking the official website before you go to confirm current hours.
How to Get to the Roc del Quer Viewpoint
The viewpoint is on the CS-240 road, kilometer 6.5, between Canillo and Ordino. You have two options to get there:
By car (recommended option)
If you're only visiting the viewpoint, there is NO bus service. Access is only possible by private vehicle. There's a free parking lot just before the viewpoint. From the parking lot it's about a 10-minute walk along a well-marked path to the platform.
By official bus from Canillo (combo pack only)
If you buy the "Tibetan Bridge + Roc del Quer Viewpoint" combo pack for €20, the official bus stops at both sites. The bus departs from Canillo at 9:30 and then approximately every 20-30 minutes.
My Honest Opinion on the Roc del Quer Viewpoint
I'll be direct: paying €6 for a viewpoint seems excessive to me. There are beautiful viewpoints in Andorra that are completely free with equally spectacular views. A visit to Roc del Quer takes 10-15 minutes at most, you take some photos and that's it.
Pros: the viewpoint is original, the Thinker sculpture is photogenic, the views are nice and it's easy to get to. Cons: the high price for what it offers, the glass floor is very scratched according to many reviews, and there can be queues for the bus.
My recommendation: it's only worth it if you're already going to the Canillo Tibetan Bridge and get the combo pack for €20. That way you make the most of the trip and the bus to see both sites. But if you just want to see a viewpoint, there are free options.
Free Alternatives to the Roc del Quer Viewpoint
If you're looking for free viewpoints in Andorra, I recommend these three alternatives that are very close:
Bosc de les Allaus Viewpoint
This viewpoint is next to the Sant Jaume dels Cortals church. It's completely free with spectacular panoramic views of Encamp and the central valley. It has nothing to envy paid viewpoints. I mention it in my article about the Encamp Tibetan Bridge as a bonus point worth visiting.
Les Fonts Viewpoint
The Les Fonts viewpoint is next to Lake Engolasters. It's another free viewpoint where you can see central Andorra from above. The views are spectacular and it's a perfect alternative if you don't want to pay.
Encamp Tibetan Bridge (free)
The Encamp Tibetan Bridge is completely free, smaller than the Canillo one but with incredible views. You can go with dogs, there's a river to swim in during summer, and the surroundings are beautiful. If you want a swim, check out my best spots to swim in Andorra. For me it's one of the best mountain options in Andorra if you're looking for something authentic and not touristy.
